My interest in woodworking started in my middle school shop class where I got to work with all sorts of mediums including wood, metal, plastic and glass. I absolutely loved the class and even kept many of my creations. But then schooling, work, and life happened and I never got back to creating with wood until I became a Scout Master.
It was at my first scout camp as a Scout Master where I saw a few boys struggling to make something out of their block of wood for the wood carving merit badge. I loved helping the boys with their projects so much that I even got my own block of wood and pocket knife and started whittling.
My first project was a fish and I thought it was great. I also thought there must be an easier and faster way to make these wood projects than with just a pocket knife. From there, my collection of wood working tools grew with the complexity and size of my projects.
I don’t have a fancy wood shop. Everything I do is from my garage, driveway and backyard. I hope to grow this website and post my projects and experiences with some instructions to help inspire anyone looking to get into wood working.
